Will the OnePlus 10T 5G have OxygenOS 13 and no ‘Slider Alert’?

All set to launch at an event in New York, the OnePlus 10T 5G will debut tomorrow, August 3. As usual, we only have a few details of OnePlus’s upcoming killer flagship smartphone. The OnePlus 10T has already succeeded the OnePlus 10 Pro earlier in 2022. However, it is good to see the return of the ‘T’ series—as OnePlus didn’t launch any OnePlus 9T earlier. Although we had the OnePlus 9RT, the ‘R’ series varied distinctly from OnePlus’s premium flagship.

Above all, OnePlus will be finally unveiling the much-rumored handset at a big event in New York. We are expecting the company to confirm the many specs we have heard of throughout this time. However, despite several leaks and rumors, the OnePlus 10T 5G is shrouded with mystery. This indicates that OnePlus certainly has a big surprise (or more) for us at the Wednesday event. We are anticipating the unveiling of OxygenOS 13. It is a significant update that many OnePlus fans are hoping will clean up the mess that is OxygenOS 12.

How to watch the OnePlus 10T 5G NYC Event?

If you are unable to contain your enthusiasm, you need to catch the OnePlus event unfolding live on YouTube. OnePlus will stream the event on its YouTube channel, starting at 10 AM ET/ 1 PM PT. Moreover, you can register on the OnePlus 10T product launch page to get updated on the latest news and announcements.

But that’s not it. OnePlus is also opening the event for in-person attendance by fans based in New York City or those willing to come down to New York. The event will be held in ‘Gotham Hall’ and the tickets will cost $25/head. If you attend the event, you can get a gift bag with free OnePlus Nord Buds including a OnePlus tote bag, cap as well as a brooch.

If you still are unable to hold your excitement, OnePlus has a few teaser trailers on its YouTube channel that you can watch. There are several other videos hinting at expectations from the gaming and camera capabilities of OnePlus’s latest smartphone.

Before the launch event begins, let us have a look at the public details of the OnePlus 10T 5G.

OnePlus 10T 5G: What do we know so far?

Since it has no ‘Pro’ along its name, the OnePlus 10T 5G will likely launch at a higher price than the OnePlus 10 Pro. The 10 Pro was launched in India in March at Rs 66,999 and went all the way up to Rs 71,999. So far, rumors state that the OnePlus 10T 5G will range from Rs 50,000-60,000.

OnePlus has already confirmed that the OnePlus 10T 5G will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.

Other confirmed specifications are:

      • 6.7-inch flat display
      • 120Hz refresh rate and 720Hz touch sampling rate
      • 150W fast charging 1 to 100 % in just 19 minutes, and a 4,800 mAh battery
      • Triple camera setup with Optical (OIS) and Electronic (EIS) Image Stabilization
      • Ultra-wide camera with a 119.9-degree field of view and a macro camera
      • Image Clarity Engine (ICE), updated algorithm” to ensure faster photos with more details
      • Glass back in two colors: Moonstone Black and Jade Green

The company claims that the 16GB RAM will let the users multitask up to 30 apps simultaneously on 10T. However, the iconic OnePlus feature will be missing from the upcoming model. The OnePlus 10T 5G will not have the alert slider. In a blog post, OnePlus confirmed this saying that the decision was not one that it “made quickly or easily,” given this is a global flagship. In a blog post, OnePlus says the new design meant a “necessary trade-off was the removal of our signature Alert Slider.”

The blog post adds, “this decision provided us with the necessary space inside the device to add new, meaningful technologies that deliver key advancements to the OnePlus experience while maintaining a thin and light form factor.” It appears that this design change has ensured that the OnePlus 10T will have a “higher wattage charging, a large battery capacity, and better antenna signal.”
